Labor, finishing, and site prep make up the rest.  For DIY projects where you handle finishing, you'd pay $1.50–$3 per sq ft in materials (concrete + rebar + form lumber). Plan on the labor cost being roughly equal to materials for a basic finish.  A 12 × 14 patio (168 sq ft) at $6 per sq ft installed runs about $1,000. Same patio DIY: roughly $300–$450 in materials.
